The New Ales South Bohemian Gallery

Our design for the new gallery building is planned for a special location on the edge of the historic centre of Budweis, where the city walls once stood. The design of the building and the adjacent square offers an opportunity to give this area a new meaning. Our design incorporates elements of the old city walls and translates them into a modern form. We have placed particular emphasis on making the building open and accessible to the city and its people. With its pentagonal shape, it blends in with the building site, tapers towards the top and is reminiscent of an old fortress tower. The top floor is set back and will house offices and a bar with a view.
